The oil pan of my car is leaking. Does any body know if I can stop the leak with a glue gun?

not a good idea. If you don't want to change the gasket you Diamond Diva??? might be abel to lossen a few of the bolts surrounding the oil pan and Registered User fill it with gasket sealer. It might fix it but there is always a chance Joined: Monday, 14th of June 2010, 21:49:30 it will make it worse. Posts: 332 Viewed 4707 times

HAHHA!, Serious? Let me put it to you this way, any thing SweetBottom basically touching the engine will get hot, just a matter how hot, But Registered User being that the ''Oil'' pan holds the substance that reduces friction Joined: Saturday, 22nd of May 2010, 12:58:01 (which creates heat) The Oil & pan are one of a couple of things that are Posts: 367 the hottest things on a engine, so it is safe to say household glue will Viewed 8915 times not hold a oil leak.
What you need
1. Replace the pan or gasket.
2. depending on the leak, there is some items that can seal or patch a oil
leak, (not recommend for a long term solution) However these products are
designed for ''High Temperatures'' Ex. JB Weld has been know to patch a
few cracks & leaks in engine components such as oil pans.
However based on ur question I recommend you Replace the cracked pan or
gasket that is causing the leak.
Good Luck

First, check all the nuts are correctly tightened up,if that Pinky does,nt work you will have to drain the engine oil remove the sump pan and Registered User old gasket, clean and check the gasket surfaces and fit a new gasket. It Joined: Thursday, 3rd of June 2010, 11:07:44 would be cheaper to have it done along with a service.Which would mean you Posts: 833 have your engine oil and filter changed at the same time and all liquid Viewed 15767 times levels checked, then its only off the road once.

Only way to stop the oil pan leak is to install a new gasket. Bear If the leaking area is perfectly clean and dry (not likely), a glue gun Registered User MIGHT help slow down the leak, but don't bet on it. Joined: Saturday, 15th of May 2010, 21:09:45 Posts: 748 Viewed 4748 times
